Apples
Dried Apples are dehydrated apples that have been preserved. Dried apples make a delicious and healthy snack on their own, but are great for baked goods, such as cakes and pies.

Filling
- 12 oz. dried apples
- 1/2 packed light brown sugar
- 4 cups of water
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
- 4 cinnamon sticks
Pastry Dough
- 1 1/4 sticks cold, unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
In a large kettle, simmer filling ingredients with a pinch of salt for 15 minutes, covered, until apples plump up. Uncover the mixture, stirring occasionally, and simmer for an hour until most of the liquid is absorbed. Discard the cinnamon sticks. When the filling is finished, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut butter into 1/2 inch pieces. In a food processor or blender, beat together the pastry dough ingredients with a pinch of salt until combined. Press the dough evenly onto the bottom and up the side of an 12 inch pie pan. Line the shell with foil and baked for 10-12 minutes. Remove foil and spoon filling into shell. Bake tart for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
