We highly recommend buying an electric fence tester. Without a tester it is hard to tell if the fence is working unless you touch the fence, which can be dangerous and is not recommended. These testers also make excellent troubleshooting tools when diagnosing electric fence issues.

To build an electric fence you will need a charger along with posts, insulators, fence wire or poly fencing and a grounding system.
